Set up a 9 PM hour session with my current ATF knowing full well that the Giants postseason hopes could die in that hour or survive for another day. I know it was a big game, but I wanted to hobby.
So as I was driving up, the game is 3-2, Cubs are leading, and it was a tense battle, I thought the Cubs were going to blow it out, Mad Bum didn't have his best stuff, and the Giants bullpen has been questionable, the Cubs offense was formidable. Scenarios were running through my mind. I wasn't going to cancel. Maybe if the game got interesting, we could just turn on the tube and cuddle while watching the game? But what if she doesn't have cable? Maybe I could watch the tube while we were going at it--after all, isn't baseball supposed to be useful to help you prolong the action?
So I walk in the door at the appointed time, and ask her if she likes baseball. We had never talked sports before. She didn't even know the Giants were in the playoffs, and barely knew anything about the game. But once things got started, I completely forgot about the Giants for awhile. 10 o'clock rolls around, back to reality and checked the score, still 3-2 Cubs.
I drove home to watch the Giants win, finally, in walk-off fashion in the 13th, 2 hours later.

What a disappointment. Bull pen has sucked for some time though.
OK, my post-script to this story. Read it and weep.
Game 3 was such a dramatic win, I stayed up late to watch it unfold, and then to listen to all the post-game interviews. '10, '12 '14…..Can this be happening again?
I managed to get a bleacher seat ticket to game 4 of the NLDS with some people from work, and I showed up late but Giants got the lead and extended it to 5-2, and I was starting to feel pretty good about our chances. Matt Moore pitched his ass off, sure he gave up 2 solo jacks, but only two hits, and all those K's, what was it 10 or 11? But his pitch count, it was getting up there, I guess about 120, but he still looked pretty strong in the eighth. I thought Boche would have been inclined to let him finish the game.
Top of the ninth Inning. I forget exactly how it went down, but I do remember noticing this: hey, they didn't bring Matt Moore out there again, it was one of the bullpen guys. Well, OK, the bullpen did a pretty good job the night before--and they did. But I could tell that Giants fans were getting nervous around me. I know I was. And I think it started off with a walk. By the time there were two Cubs base runners on, I had to hit the head, I couldn't hold it any more, too many beers, (and I caught some hell for this for personally jinxing the game, because nobody leaves the stands in the top of the ninth with a 3-run lead in an elimination game to take a leak, but I did). In my defense, I wasn't the only Giants fan there at the loo.
I got back to watch the rest of the disaster unfold and then watch Aroldis Chapman do what he does by striking out the side. It sucked the wind out of the stadium, and I watched the Chicago Cubs dog pile in our house and then listened to about a thousand scattered Cubs fans, in an otherwise silent stadium of 41000 spectators. celebrate in our house.
Those bitch ass A's fans are still being punk ass losers talking whole bunch of shit. But it's all good, they still suck dick and jacking off to that weak ass 1989 steroids tainted world series rings. We still have our 3 recent rings from the past 6 years that's a lot more superior to their shitty ring.
Fuck the A's, Fuck the Dodgers. Go Giants!
And now the poor Cubbies have to win 3 out of the next 4 games or remain the "lovable losers" since 1908!
And now the Cubs have to win three in a row or they remain the lovable losers.
I wonder what that loser Steve Bartman is doing right now. LOL!!!
And now the poor Cubbies have to win the next 2 games or remain the "lovable losers" since 1908!
GO CUBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now the poor Cubbies only have to win one game or remain the "lovable losers" since 1908!
GO CUBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its down to 1
OK, so the Cubs finally win the WS. Really, it kind of sucks for them, they had one of the longest and most celebrated streaks in sports going for over a century, it had became a badge of honor, "the lovable losers," and now the streak is over. I would almost say to Cubs fan, I'm sorry for your loss.
